Seafox 1

The self-elevating accommodation, maintenance and workover unit Seafox 1 was built under DNV classifications in 1979. Capable of withstanding extreme storm conditions in the Southern North Sea and equipped with 69,85 metre legs, the four-legged Seafox 1 is able to operate all year round, in water depths of up to 40 metres, depending on the local environmental seabed conditions.

Early 2009 the unit has undergone a major upgrade and several modifications. Included in this upgrade were the installation of a 300-tons heavy-lift pedestal crane with 62 metre boom, the installation of additional power generation and two new fully-enclosed lifeboats, and the complete refurbishment of the existing accommodation.

Seafox 1 was designed by MSC to give it a wide flexibility in practical terms and offers permanent accommodation for 75 POB (persons on board). Additional accommodation can be installed on either port or starboard aft side, in the form of temporary living quarters and/or modulated accommodation block.

The accommodation is of a high standard and the various leisure facilities include satellite TV, mess room, recreation rooms, sports room, locker room and fully-equipped galley. Other amenities include hospital facilities, laundry, GMDSS radio station, jacking control room, helicopter administration, the helicopter deck suitable for Sikorsky S61N-type helicopters.
