Seafox 7 on Location for its First Job for Tullow Oil plc in the Southern North Sea, UKCS The newly built jack-up service platform Seafox 7 has arrived on location in the Southern North Sea (SNS), UKCS to start on its first job.
The unit has been chartered by Tullow Oil plc to support planned activities at the Horne and Wren Platform as part of the Wissey Field Development.
Tullow Oil plc first entered the UK offshore exploration and production arena in 2001, when it acquired a significant number of SNS gas assets from BP. The acquisition comprised assets in two main areas, CMS (the Caister Murdoch System) and the Thames/Hewett Area. Production from the Horne & Wren Platform, Tullow's first operated development offshore UK, commenced in June 2005. The Wissey Field is currently under development as a tie-back to the Horne & Wren Platform and is targeting first gas in August 2008.
David Wright, Tullow Oil plc’s project manager for the Wissey Field Development, is pleased to have the Seafox 7 available. “The unit is supporting brownfield modifications on a NUI located in over 41m water depth. It provides excellent accommodation, helicopter landing facilities and the necessary deckspace and lifting capacity required to complete our programme of work in a safe and efficient manner”.
The self-elevating accommodation, maintenance and workover unit Seafox 7 was built under ABS classifications in 2008. Designed by MSC and built at Labroy Shipyard, it is the first new-built jack-up rig to enter the SNS area and has standard accommodation for 82 POB, a helideck and a crane with 300 tons capacity. “We are very happy with the addition of the Seafox 7 to our fleet and believe the unit provides added value to all clients who need safe offshore facilities in order to undertake maintenance, installation and well services activities.
